Richland Days 1st Annual Free Throw Contest
Date: Saturday, August 20, 2016Time:Contest will run from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM. No additional entries accepted after 4:30 PM. If needed, tiebreaker to be held at 5:00 PM.
Location: The new Teen Area
Divisions: Contestants will be grouped based upon age with four divisions as follows:
Ages 9-12, Ages 13-15, Ages 16-18, Ages 19+
GAME PLAY: Contestants will shoot a total of 13 skill shots as follows:

20 total possible points!
Participants must shoot all 13 basketballs in order - including the 9 standard basketballs worth 1 point, 1 special color bonus basketball worth 2 points ‘money ball’ (shot from Foul Line) and 3 basketballs worth 3 points (shot from 3-Point Line). The maximum score for each turn is 20 points. The top 3 player scores in each division will be displayed on the “Leader Board”.
PRIZES: The player in each division with the most points will be declared the winner and receive a CASH PRIZE of $50! Only one cash prize to be awarded per each division.
TIE BREAKER: In the event of a tie, contestant must be present for a tie-breaker to begin promptly at 5:00. Shooting will begin with the youngest to oldest brackets with players called to shoot in order from the top to bottom of the posted Leader Board. Any contestant not present when called to shoot will be immediately disqualified. In the event of a tie, only those who are tied will each take 5 free throws with 4 standard basketballs worth 1 point and 1 special color bonus basketball worth 2 points for a maximum of 6 points. If there is another (2nd) tie, process will repeat with only those tied advancing to subsequent rounds.
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
Must be 9 or older.
This is a skill based tournament and entrants must use provided equipment.
Tournament availability may be limited and participants will not be permitted any warm-up free throws.
Free throw violations include stepping over the line prior to the ball reaching the rim.
A free throw made in violation will be counted as a miss and will not be awarded any points.
In the event of interference by another shooter or another ball, the shooter to re-take the free throw or free throws which were interfered with.
In case of a ball becoming lodged at the rim, the ball will be removed prior to any further shots being taken. The shooter will then take remaining free throw or throws.
Final scores will be verified by official score takers. Decisions will be considered final.
